Peer Review Comparative Analysis

The Introduction sufficiently talks about the issue of gender equality. I start out my introduction dating back to early Christianity and included history on the 19th amendment that granted women’s rights. I then lead to talking about the current role of women in the government. Gender Equality is an issue that many people in society nowadays demand. I state that as more and more women are educated, they begin to realize their absence of equal rights compared to the regular man. I believe that I can talk more about why it is an issue. I should include that recently there have been marches around the country depicting that this is a topic that needs improvement and resolution. I introduce the topic of medium expressing their view on gender quality. My thesis also explains that I will be discussing the way informal and formal writers utilize different rhetorical strategies to support their claim. However, the transition from the background information to my thesis is rough, so I need to add how messages on the different platforms differ in terms of purpose/message. I also can explain the background of the medium and how they reach the audience. The transition is very straight forward without any transition phrases. I used a transition that was in a CRA essay example, but the sentence leading into my paragraph could be smoother. The claim in the first paragraph analyzed is that an emotional appeal is used across the informal source. I write that the author desires to clear stereotypes within either gender: male or female. I write in the same paragraph the quote of the tweet which says “Women belong in the kitchen. Men belong in the kitchen. Everyone belongs in the kitchen. Kitchen has food.” In addition, I elaborate on the cliché and stereotypical phrase of “women belonging in the kitchen” by stating its history and how it is changing today. I continue to write that a particular thing or action should not be limited to a specific gender. A question that could be answered in my first paragraph is “what is the reason why some informal sources use emotional appeal rather than factual?” My first source is written for a really big audience. The big audience causes the author to write with more pathos rather than a logical appeal, because it is easier to sway a big group of people through an emotional appeal. The claim in the my second paragraph analyzed is that there is a mix of emotional and logical appeal. The purpose of my source is to persuade society that gender equality is not a myth. I elaborate on the evidences given in Beyoncé’s essay. She states that woman earn only 77 percent of what the average male makes, utilizing logic. However, she also says men have to demand that their female family members have to earn more, creating a more emotional appeal. Beyoncé demands for equal rights by empowering her young populous audience and also gives statistical information. This source is written for a big crowd, but not as big as twitter. Beyoncé easily moves her fans with a powerful tone and emotional empathizing words, but she also gives facts that convince non-supporters of gender equality. I claim in my third source that the author, Hannah Wright, desires gender quality which can help decrease violence. I summarize the different types of violence’s that are occurring around the globe that are involved with women. She writes that this world would have better health care, welfare services, economic opportunities, and political participation if women were given equal opportunities. My third source is written for a smaller group of audience. This essay is either for those that need to profession data or to convince others using logical evidence. The audience of this document would age from the range of late teens to late adults, resulting on a heavier reliance on factual evidence rather than emotional persuasion. My sources portray that each author writes a specific rhetorical appeal according to their audience number. Formal sources have more of a purpose of informing their audience, usually in smaller numbers. Informal sources are more entertaining and appeal more to the audience. Within each paragraph, I describe that the account on twitter appeals more to the audiences emotions, Beyoncé’s essay utilizes both pathos and logos, while the database document is only contains statistics and research.
